If you’re sick and tired of sitting in a grubby, grimy car for hour after hour, then you need to detail your car’s interior. Interior plastic and trim quickly accumulates dust, dirt and grime. But never fear, Meguiar’s are here with their safe, effective, all-surface interior detailer and cleaner. In this Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer review, we put the USA’s favorite dash cleaner to the test.

Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer Product Description
Quik Interior Detailer from Meguiar’s cleans and protects interior surfaces quickly and safely.
It works much like a traditional exterior Quick Detailer Spray (QDS), easily removing dust, fingerprints, ashes, minor spills, and general grime.
Instead of leaving behind gloss and protection like a traditional exterior QDS, Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer leaves behind invisible UV protection and a clean fresh scent.
Unlike many other interior dash cleaner sprays, Quik leaves surfaces with an OEM looking matt finish. It’s not sticky, greasy or shiny which helps to avoid a build-up of product over time.
About the Meguiar’s Brand
Founded over a century ago as a furniture polish manufacturer, Meguiar’s is now an internationally renowned car care brand. With the arrival of the first automobiles, Frank Meguiar Jnr, founder of Meguiar’s, turned his attention to the revolutionary horseless carriages. The bottles of furniture polish were quickly repurposed and helped to protect the wooden components of those early cars.

As the automobile developed, so did the Meguiar’s brand and product range. Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze polishes and waxes were initially used by manufacturers, car dealerships and body shops. As car shows became more popular, so did the high-gloss show car shine, and so did Meguiar’s products.
Barry Meguiar, grandson of Frank, describes the Meguiar’s brand in simple terms. “We are car guys who happen to be in the car wax business. The ultimate experience for us comes when our two passions merge in the exhilaration of “Best of Show” winners who regularly use our products.”
How to Use Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner
Prior to using any liquid chemicals on the interior of your car, we always recommend using an air compressor to blow out any loose debris from hard to reach areas. Follow this by vacuuming up the loose dirt and debris from seats, door pockets and carpets. Always using the crevice tool and brush attachments on your vacuum carefully.
PRO TIP
If the bottle has been unused for some time, gently shake the bottle before use to ensure the interior detailer is properly mixed.
Before using Meguiars Interior Detailer, gently shake the bottle to mix the chemicals. Mixing the chemicals will help you to achieve the best results when using the product.

How to Use Quik Interior Detailer – Option 1
You can use the product in one of two ways. One option is to spray the Quik Detailer directly onto the surface which is to be cleaned. Then wipe over the area with a clean microfiber cloth. Flip the towel to a dry side, then buff the area until dry. If the surface you’re cleaning is particularly dirty, allow the product to sit for a moment or two before wiping.
PRO TIP
Always read the manufacturer instructions before using any chemical product on your vehicle.

How to Use Quik Interior Detailer – Option 2
The other option is to spray the product onto a clean microfiber towel or mitt, then wipe the area to be cleaned. Again, flip the towel to a dry side, or use a second dry towel, and buff the area until dry.
Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer is designed to be safe to use on all interior surfaces including:
- interior plastics
- high gloss piano black trim
- vinyl trim
- leather
- rubber
- metal trim
- carbon fiber
- LCD infotainment screens
PRO TIP
Make sure you DON’T spray Quik Interior Detailer into the speakers.
When using Quik on delicate surfaces, like high gloss piano black trim, spray the product onto a microfiber cloth first. The same advice applies to cleaning electronic control panels with buttons and switches, or LCD screens. This method prevents liquids from getting into the electronics and adds lubrication to help avoid marring delicate trim.
Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer can be used to gently freshen up leather seats. For a full in-depth guide on how to clean dirty leather seats in 8 easy steps, check out our guide.

Ease of Application of Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer
We always advise working one area at a time. Mist two or three sprays onto a clean, dry microfiber towel or spray directly onto interior trim panels. Where necessary, allow the product to dwell for a few moments. Then wipe over with your microfiber towel to clean. Flip the towel to a dry side, or use a fresh towel, then buff until dry.
Benefits of Using Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer
Meguiar’s Interior Quik Detailer is versatile and effective. It safely cleans interior plastics and trim, vinyl, leather, rubber, metal, and even LCD touch screens, gauge screens and navigation screens.
Quik Interior Detailer does not leave behind a slick, shiny look and feel. Instead, it gives cleansed surfaces an OEM matt finish with a pleasant, fresh scent. As well as being an effective, mild cleaner, Quik also contains UV protection, helping to preserve the original appearance of your interior trim.
Because Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner is safe to use on so many different surfaces, it’s ideal for both amateurs and professional detailers. The high lubricity formula quickly lifts dirt, dust and grime, leaving a clean, matt finish.
Value for Money of Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer
A typical consumer will purchase a 473ml/16oz trigger spray bottle, which costs around $8.00. If you’re prepared to shop around, we‘ve seen it offered for as low as $5.80 a bottle.
The average sized car dash will need 3 or 4 sprays of product for a light cleanse. Door cards generally require 2 to 3 sprays whilst centre consoles often only need a couple of squirts. All things considered, cleaning the interior of an average sized car will take about 15-20ml of product.
Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer spray is very good value for money, for a pre-mixed, ready-to-use interior dash cleaner with UV protection. It is available in both 473ml/16oz trigger spray bottle and a larger 3785ml/1 US gallon trade container.
Meguiar’s Packaging
The Meguiar’s brand offers some of the best packaging and labelling in the car detailing business. Quik Interior Detailer is packaged in a smart black plastic trigger spray bottle with clear, classic style Meguiar’s labelling.
The trigger sprays are good quality, offering ‘spray’ and ‘off’ settings. The triggers have a good draw and consistent spray output. There is very little ‘spitting’ at the start and finish of the trigger spray cycle.
The bottle sits comfortably in the hand and the trigger requires just the right amount or pressure to achieve a consistent spray.
Conclusion
One thing I hate as both a detailer, and driver, is a shiny dash. The reflections and glare a shiny dash can cause is a distraction, and at times dangerous. That’s why I love Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer – it cleans leaving a matt finish.
Quik has a mild, clean scent which, if not to your taste, quickly dissipates. The UV protection that this interior detailer leaves behind is a bonus but not the main reason to buy this product.
The main reason to buy this product is its versatility. You can use it on almost every interior surface. It won’t clean your carpets and I’d not use it on glass but for everything else – you’re covered!
To my shame, I often neglect the interior of my own car, focusing far too much time on the exterior. That’s why I keep a bottle of Quik and a couple of microfiber towels in the car. When I’m stuck in traffic or waiting at a red light, I can spritz the dash and wipe. Centre stack looking a bit dusty – no problem – spray and wipe.
Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer is a must have product that’s both effective, safe, versatile and cost effective.
