How to Use Gyeon Q2M Wetcoat
Firstly, you need to wash your car. For a complete step-by-step guide on how to use the two bucket car wash method check out our PRO Detailer in-depth guide.
Gyeon Q2M WetCoat is a Last Stage Protection (LSP) product but unlike a regular Spray Sealant, Quick Detailer Spray (QDS), or Wax which you apply then buff off with a microfiber, WetCoat is a ‘spray on and rinse off’ product.
Before using Gyeon Q2M WetCoat, gently shake the bottle to mix the chemicals. Liquid detailing products which contain SiO2 can suffer from chemical separation if left to stand for a period of time. Mixing the chemicals will help you to achieve the best results when using the product.
PRO TIP
Always read the manufacturer instructions before using any chemical product.
WetCoat, as the name suggests, is applied to a wet car, one panel at a time, then rinsed off with a pressure washer. It is the high pressure rinse water that charges and activates the coating helping it spread and chemically bond to the vehicle’s paint and trim surfaces.
If you follow our guide on how to safely wash your car, complete the safe wash process through step 7, then apply Gyeon Q²M WetCoat. Finally, dry your vehicle as normal and apply tire dressing if required.
Never use WetCoat in strong, direct sunlight
We recommend that Gyeon Q²M WetCoat is only ever used on wet, cool panels. Never use the product in strong, direct sunlight or Gyeon WetCoat may cause problems. If you live in a warm or hot climate and plan to use this product, thoroughly rinse the vehicle immediately before application. Work in sections, one panel at a time, from top to bottom, rising immediately after application.
PRO TIP
Rinse Gyeon Q²M WetCoat immediately! DO NOT wait for the product to dwell and DO NOT let it dry on hot panels.
Ease of Application of Gyeon Q²M WetCoat
WetCoat is super easy to apply to any vehicle. Working one panel at a time, mist two or three sprays onto each cool, wet panel. Following application, immediately rinse the product using your pressure washer. As the high pressure water hits the panel, the WetCoat will momentarily ‘flash’ white in color as it activates.
The water behaviour on the treated panel will instantly change, becoming extremely hydrophobic. Water will be repelled from the panel and the little that remains will bead dramatically, making drying with a towel or warm air car dryer, a super simple task.
Once the entire vehicle has been treated with WetCoat and rinsed, as an extra precaution, re-rinse the whole vehicle one final time. This will ensure that no product is able to dry on the bodywork, thus avoiding any unsightly chemical residue.

PRO TIP
Mist one spray of Gyeon WetCoat your clean alloy wheels, then rinse off immediately, to add protection and make subsequent wheel cleaning super easy.
Benefits of Using Gyeon Wetcoat
Aside from the awesome, instant hydrophobicity of Gyeon Q²M WetCoat, this spray on/rinse off paint sealant adds a noticeable amount of additional gloss to your paintwork and a high level of protection to your trim and glass.
In terms of the amount of gloss the product adds, aside from being noticeable, it is also measurable, with the aid of a specialist Goniophotometer. It regularly ranks in the top five when compared to rival products in its class. Additionally, WetCoat adds slickness to the touch. Once fully dry, gently run the back of your (clean) hand across the treated paintwork to feel the improvement in the surface gloss and slickness.
Gyeon Q²M WetCoat offers genuine ‘self-cleaning’ properties. Rain water alone is able to remove a fair amount of dirt and contaminants from treated car body panels.
The stand-out feature its ease of use. WetCoat from GYEON is a great product to use in colder and more temperate climates. Especially so during winter months, when you just want to get your car cleaned and protected before your cold, wet hands begin to go numb you lose feeling in your finger tips.
Instant, durable, hydrophobic protection
After carefully, safely cleaning your car, being able to add instant, durable, high gloss, hydrophobic protection with just a few sprays and a final rinse is a huge benefit.
You can use Gyeon WetCoat as a drying aid. Following our ‘How-To’ application guide above, apply WetCoat after your regular wash routine. It will repel water, leave gloss and help to dry your vehicle faster as there will be less water on the paintwork to towel off.
It’s also a great product to help maintain, boost or top-up any existing ceramic coating which has been applied to your vehicle. You can use Gyeon WetCoat on top of ceramic coatings. It’s perfectly paired with any of Gyeon’s own ceramic coating products, as well as those ceramic coatings offered by rival brands.

How Long Does Gyeon Wet Coat Last?
Gyeon Q²M WetCoat is a very durable spray and rinse paint sealant. It’s capable of withstanding several wash cycles over a number of weeks and months. Gyeon claim that WetCoat can last for up to 12 weeks in total. Our own use of this product and the testing that we’ve conducted, would suggest that this bold claim is accurate. Durability of any product can vary, so your mileage may vary.
Value for Money of Gyeon Wet Coat
Gyeon Q²M WetCoat offers good value for money. The cost of application (based on 50ml of product) of around $1.10 per application. It is available in both 500ml and 1000ml trigger spray bottles. A 4000ml bulk container is also offered by some authorised resellers.
Gyeon Products Packaging
The Gyeon brand offers some of the best packaging and labelling in the car detailing business. Their unique bottle design is as instantly recognisable as the original Coca-Cola bottle.
The trigger sprays are very high quality, offering ‘spray/stream’ and ‘off’ settings. The triggers have a good draw, consistent spray output and very little ‘spitting’ at the start and finish of the trigger spray cycle.
Both sizes of trigger spray bottles sit comfortably in the hand. The triggers themselves require just the right amount to achieve a consistent spray pattern during use.
Conclusion
Considering its ease of use and overall performance, we rank the Gyeon Wet Coat product very highly. It’s been a consistent performer on our own vehicles and there’s always a bottle on the shelf in our workshop.
Of all the water based, spray on/rinse off paint sealant type products that we’ve tested, it’s the only one (so far) that genuinely seems to offer self-cleaning properties as advertised.
It’s super easy to use, incredibly effective and we rate it as one of the best products that we’ve tested.
